Season 2015

Christmas is upon us, and hopefully we have some news that will add just a little bit more glitter to the festive season.

All of our Premier League and M1 Coaches are going to continue in the 2015 Season;

Mark Dell’Oro (Jogger) – reining Premiership Coach and dual Coach of the year recipient will continue with the PL Men for 2015. Jogger has been a fantastic addition to Tiger land and will continue to develop our Senior Mens squad.

Darren Neimke (Dazz) – Current Suns Coach and returning for his 3rd season with the Premier League Women. The Women’s group continues to trend up and had a stellar year in 2014 – and that included our reinstatement the M1 competition and our consolidation into that grade.

Todd Kitto -Will continue as M1 Men’s Coach. The M1’s were very unlucky this year not to make finals – and with a great mix of youth and experience they will be hard to stop in 2015.

Matt Morton and Dan Mitchel- Keep their duo act going with the M1 Women – as mentioned first year back for the M1 Women’s group and finishing mid-table is a great effort.

Other coaching announcements to come in the new year – if you are an existing coach or would like to put your hand up to coach please contact Me (president@shc.org.au) or for junior positions, Kerry Kitto (juniors@shc.org.au).

I know Dazz and Jogger and the other coaches are already planning the Pre-season program so enjoy the festive season and be ready of action late January!

Finally to everyone, have a relaxing, joyful and safe Holiday Season and we will see you all for the 2015 season.

Vale: Paul Cole

Thank you to Steve Szymanskyj and Mark Fletcher for the following notification of the passing of Paul Cole a long time Seacliff member.

Seacliff Hockey Club Members

I regretfully need to inform you of the passing of Paul Cole, one of our past players.

Paul introduction to hockey was playing a Primary School Hockey competition that was run by Southern Districts Hockey. He then progressed onto U13s District Hockey with Southern Districts and progressed through the age groups to seniors.

In seniors he moved on to Happy Valley then Valley Sturt as it amalgamated, eventually ending up at the Seacliff Hockey Club, in Div 2 and then later spent around 7 years playing Div 4.

Paul was a cut above on the hockey field the ever reliable right half that dutifully cut out the opposition winger and often stepped up to score a few goals.

Around 6 years ago he had to stop playing hockey as he battled his first bout on cancer – a very aggressive sarcoma tumour. He beat it at that time but regretfully it came back in July last year, more aggressive and in-operable.

Paul was one of those guys that everybody loved to be around and was a true gentleman, honest and fair both on the hockey field and off. He will be sorely missed by the many friends he has made over the years at this hockey club.

For those of you who knew Paul and would like to attend to pay respects, the Funeral service is being held at 11:30am tomorrow the 19th of March at Centennial Park, Heysen Chappel, 760 Goodwood Road Pasadena

Season 2014

Hi Everyone,

Well the season is very close – There has been plenty of activity including our PLM and PLW squads having a Pre-Season trip to Mt Gambier – and winning!!

Some team news for our seniors – we have now pretty much completed finding coaches for the Womens and Mens Senior Teams

PLW – Darren (Daz) Niemke
PLM – Mark (Jogger) Dell’Oro
M1W – Matthew Morton and Dan Mitchel
M1M – Todd Kitto
M2W – Terese Reeves – (with help from Martina, Mel and Co)
M2M – Simon Lohmeyer
M3M – Aaron Vander Wyst
M4W – Anne Beard
M5M – Rick Mackereth

We are in the very fortunate position to keep both of our fantastic Premier League Coaches from 2013. The Men’s side looking to do one better than last year and the Women’s side will definitely be looking for finals hockey this year with the inclusion of several new players.

The inclusion of current PLM players Todd Kitto, Matt Morton and Dan Mitchel is an excellent addition to out 2nd grade teams. They are all recent State players and have an excellent understanding of contemporary hockey and are looking forward to the challenges ahead.

The M2W coaches headed by Terese brings a fantastic level of PLW experience that will greatly aid the women’s side in what should be a challenging but hopefully rewarding year with 2 of our teams being promoted. Aaron Vander Wyst takes over the newly promoted M3M taking over from James McRae who guided the M4’s to the Grand Final in 2013.

Finally to the other coaches who have continued on from last year Simon, Rick and Anne – great to have you back for another great year.

Don’t forget – lower grade pre-season on Sunday 6pm

Sign-on day – Tues 18th March 6-8pm at the clubrooms and Sunday 30th 10am-12pm at the clubrooms.

Also Handover day is the 30th – 8am
